Why Some Girls Hockey Players Get to the Next...
One of my favorite things to do with the girls hockey players I train is take our workouts outdoors. There is a huge park near to my facility which makes for a new and challenging change of pace for my young athletes. The first time we head over to the park, I always have a really tough workout planned, which finishes off with sprints up a ski hill. I know the hill sprints will be the hardest part of the workout, but sometimes that hill also provides them with a really great life lesson. At our first outdoor workout this summer, after we had done 8 hard circuits of speed and strength training, we headedover to the hill. And just as we were walking over, another girl got off her bike and[..]
After being shut-out in their last two of three games and only scoring one goal for over those outings, the Rangers let out a release Sunday night totaling six. Period one had the looks of another dreadful skate as the Canadians left the first twenty minutes of play up two zip on goals by Cammalleri and Brian Gionta. It would only take: 57-seconds into period two of play for the Rangers to get their legs moving and Mr. Heart and Soul Ryan Callahan would get the Blue shirts within one on a tip-in goal. The Rangers special teams on the penalty kill would be responsible for their next tally as Callahan would feed Brandon Dubinsky on the shorthand to even the score. Just 2:36 later the[..]
Canadian Hockey - Not Doing So Well in the...
Team Canada has not always had the easiest time of it in the Olympic games. You'd think a country rabidly devoted to ice hockey would skate through the Olympic games to a gold medal, but as their past has shown the Canadian hockey team doesn't always fare as expected. Canada's big problem standing in the way of gold has always been the opposing team's goalie. The most painful losses Canada has experienced in the Olympic games have always been due to Olympic caliber goalies. In 1984 Sweden made four shootout stops with goalie Tommy Salo to win the gold medal from Canada. In 1988 at the Nagano games the Canadian Dream Team lost in a semifinal shootout against the Czech's Hasek. Wayne[..]
Team USA Cruises in Opener With a Sloppy Win!
The Men's Ice Hockey opener for the 2010 Winter Olympics kicked off today and the first match was between the United States and Switzerland. USA were able to jump out to a 1-0 lead in the first add two in the second and skate to a 3-1 win. However the team was sloppy through parts of the game leading to many odd man rushes that the Swiss just didn't hit the net on and couldn't capitalize. The Americans did it with their big boys in scoring department, not the guys who you expected to score in Zach Parise, Patrick Kane and Peter Stastny but literally their big boys with Bobby Ryan, Ryan Malone and David Backes applying the goals for the American team. Bobby Ryan got the American squad on[..]
"Black Sunday" has come and gone and even though the firing of now former head coach Ken Hitchcock wasn't terribly surprising given the Flyers history with coaching changes, oh yeah, and that horrid 1-6-1 start to the season, I'd be lying if I didn't say the sudden resignation of supposed general manager for life Bob Clarke didn't absolutely floor me. I struggled with the news initially, thinking about it through every painful moment of yet another Eagles heartbreak and I just couldn't decide if changing both the general manager and the coach 8 games into the season are decisions that were overdue or simply a terrible over reaction. If you think about it, the conclusion of over reaction[..]
Top 10 Trade Deadline Deals of the Decade
As part of my series of articles reviewing the best and the worst of the past decade, I decided to take a look at the trade deadline deals that have gone down over the past ten years. Here are the "biggest" deals in terms of significance then and the longer term impact. We obviously don't know the full impact of some of the more recent deals, but we'll do our best to guess. #10 - 2009: The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired Antoine Vermette from the Ottawa Senators for Pascal Leclaire and a 2009 2nd round draft pick. It will take a year or two to understand the full significance of this deal; however, on the surface, this could be a major transaction for both sides. The Senators have had a[..]
How Big of a Factor is Malkin's Absence?
A lot of Pittsburgh fans are blaming their recent slump on the absence of their star, Evgini Malkin. They are hoping that his return in the next few days will fuel them to a come back in the standings. I decided to crunch the numbers and see how big of an impact Malkin's absence has truly had. Since Malkin's Absence So far, Malkin has missed six games and during those six games the Pens lost four of them. That's more than they have lost the entire season before that. They are losing these games for two reasons, they are not playing well in the defensive zone, and they are not getting chances in the attacking zone. I can imagine Malkin helping with the offensive zone part and probably a[..]
What's Going on With the Pens and Hartnell?
If you missed the game, you may not know what the problem is with Kris Letang of the Penguins and Scott Hartnell of the Flyers. All of the drama you're hearing about was caused by the game on October 8, in Philadelphia. It was a very rough game, with the first fight coming about a minute and a half into the game, but it's what happened at the end of the game that upset Letang. At the end of the game with about a second left on the clock, Richards (PHI) charged Fleury, the Pittsburgh goalie. This started a fight around the net between all of the players. It wasn't a very violent fight and there were only one or two people that actually had to be separated by the refs. During this fight,[..]
Franzen Out For 4 Months
The Detroit Red Wings announced the other day that Johan Franzen is not going to be playing hockey for 4 months. He'll be recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in the Chicago game. Franzen did not complain about the injury until after the game. He suffered the injury during the game, but decided to keep playing. This is a huge loss for the Detroit Red Wings. Franzen was probably going to score 20-30 goals this season. The team's going to have to make a huge decision. They have to decide who is going to replace Franzen and what is going to be best for the team. This will not be an easy decision for Mike Babcock. Right now, it's looking like he's going to be calling up Justin[..]
Female Hockey's Next Great Player?
These days, girls can barely open a fashion magazine or turn on the television without being bombarded by images of "super-skinny" and "size zero" celebrities. Reality TV shows would lead us to believe that every girl aspires to be the "Next Top Model". A recent university research study found that 50% of 16-year-old girls believe they are too fat and that there is a significant decline in confidence among young girls between the ages of 11 and 16. Both these stats and shows raise serious concerns about how this "idealized" body image influences girls who want to become the "Next Great Female Hockey Player"? As young female players reach their mid-teens, the influence of popular culture[..]
What's Happening With the Wings
I wouldn't be surprised if every hockey fan knew about the Wings struggles. It's not exactly something that's been happening behind the scenes. What I want to know is how a team that's supposed to be so good, can be playing so bad. I'm sure that's exactly what you want to know too. I've been looking at a number of websites and looking at everything contributing to the Wings' losing woes. Here's what I've come up with. Problem #1: Injuries The Red Wings have had two very critical injuries to key players this season. The first injury was to Johan Franzen and resulted in him being sidelined for 4 months with a torn ACL. Franzen was supposed to score 20-30 goals this year for the team.[..]
Not since Sidney Crosby suited up for his first NHL game in back in 2005 has the hype around an NHL rookie been this high. John Tavares was the #1 overall pick of the New York Islanders in last spring's NHL entry draft, and expectations are high that he might be the NHL's next bona fide superstar. If you follow hockey regularly then you've likely been hearing the name John Tavares for a few years now. In fact, Tavares made headlines in the same year Crosby was a rookie, joining the OHL as a 15 year old under a special "exceptional player" rule that was created just for them. He didn't waste any living up to his "exceptional" status, potting 45 goals and 77 points in just 65 games in his[..]
The man who not only dazzles when plays is a force on the ice that like's to take runs at opposing players. The dangerous hit on the boards he left on Brian Campbell will make him watch his team play from the side lines for then next two games as Brian Campbell will miss the rest of the season. A repeat offender in hit's like this Alex Ovechkin will receive the suspension with out pay, costing him a costly $232,645.40. The hit slash shove close to the boards left Brian Campbell with a broken clavicle and broken ribs. The refs handed Ovechkin a five minute major and a game misconduct for the incident. This is Alex Ovechkin third Game Misconduct of the season. Ovechkin plays with passion[..]
Del Zotto's Penalty Leads to Rangers Loss
Two teams in a playoff hunt, two teams needing points, two teams from different conferences and the Road team leaves with two points. After a game where Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist played a ridiculous game against their arch rivals the New Jersey Devils, Lundqvist would play just as well in a 2-1 loss to the Nashville Predators. The problem with this game was the Gaborik less Rangers running into a brick wall by the name of Dan Ellis and a rookie defenseman letting his emotions getting the best of him. Rangers would fall into a 1-0 hole at the 17:45 mark of the first when Jordin Tootoo would find the back of the of the net and take the goal lead into the second. Vinny Prospal would[..]
Train Off the Ice... For on the Ice! It is no secret that in order to become a better athlete in any sport, some training is required. For hockey players, it is essential! Hockey players are the ultimate athlete; they need to have speed, agility, strength, and coordination all at the same time. This is why it is so important to have a good off-ice program. The main components in a hockey off-ice program are as follows: 1. Muscle Strengthening. It is imperative that hockey players increase their muscle strength, especially for the older players and the higher levels. Hockey is violent sport that only gets worse as you get older. It's important that you have the strength and dexterity to[..]
Get Acquainted With the New Jersey Devils...
The New Jersey Devils hockey team has traveled a long way from its humble origins to become one of the most popular ice hockey teams in the country. The New Jersey Devils Hockey Club, then called the Kansas Scouts, which was formed in 1974 as a result of the NHL expansions has seen a whole lot of ups and downs, name and ownership changes to last any decent hockey team more than two lifetimes. Due to an extremely dismal performance in the first two years of their inception, winning only 27 out of 160 games, the team moved to Colorado in 1976 with the aim of making a fresh start altogether and was re-christened the Colorado Rockies. However, while the team's performance definitely improved[..]
Here is the exercise or technique that you should try: 1. Have two hockey players face each other. Now tell Hockey player A to start counting in his mind at 100 miles per hour or to imagine that he is going 100 miles per hour. 2. Tell hockey player B not to speed up his mind and just do the face off in the regular way. 3. Player A will win 4 out of 5 face offs by using this internal fast speed in his mind. Note: The reason this technique works is that player A is speeding up his mind to act and react at hyper speed. Also it helps him to time the proper physical movement to react at the right time with the proper reflex action. Then you reverse the above scenario by asking player A to not[..]
Coaching Ice Hockey
From managing substitution patterns to knowing when to pull the goalie at the end of the game, coaching ice hockey might seem like it mostly entails strategic decisions during game play. While that is a big part of it, the well-rounded hockey coach also does much of their work before the puck is ever dropped at the start of a game. Developing an efficient practice routine, handling the day-to-day administrative duties of the job, and learning the subtle psychological tactics to maximize the performance of each individual player are just as crucial to developing a great team. Practice Practice is the foundation on which all great teams are built in any sport, because teams that are[..]
Victory of Pakistan Hockey Team in Champions...
The idea of the Champions Trophy in Hockey was conceived by Pakistan. The idea was put before the FIH, which gave its approval for the tournament. The inaugural edition of the tournament was hosted and won by Pakistan in 1978. Pakistan also went on to win the Champions Trophy two more times. Pakistan successfully defended the Champions Trophy in 1980 and went on to win the 1994 edition as well. Lahore was the venue for the 1994 Champions Trophy. All the matches were played at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore. The tournament was held between the 17th and 25th of March. For the third time in the history of this event, the tournament ended with play-offs. Six teams would play each[..]
If you are one of those players who just gets off the sofa once or twice a week to go play hockey, then you can stop reading right now. This article is for athletes who take their hockey seriously, regardless of their age, then are always trying to sharpen their game. The hockey players I am talking to right now are the ones who perform some supplemental off-ice training to support their on-ice performance. Okay, now that we are rid of the sofa surfers, let's talk off-ice training. Today the focus is on your strength training, whether you go to the gym, workout in the basement or do push-ups on your bedroom floor. There is one common mistake that I saw hockey players make over and over[..]
NHL Tickets - Are They Worth the Price?
If you have never had the joy of attending a live National Hockey League game, than I would suggest that you add this to your bucket list. Like any live event, there are certain factors which make it worth the price of admission. First of all, it depends on what city you are in. If the Toronto Maple Leafs were to make the Stanley Cup Final, scalpers would be asking $5000 - $6000 per ticket on the street. Conversely, teams like the Atlanta Thrashers sell tickets at an extremely affordable (as low as $25) price for the value of the product on the ice. Notable sports teams that draw sellouts every game include the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox, every Canadian city that has an NHL[..]
5 Critical Mistakes Girl Hockey Players Make
When I first started training off the ice as a young female hockey player looking to get an edge on the competition, I had no idea that the training I was doing was completely inappropriate for me. Here are the 5 big mistakes I made and the ones that girls' hockey players need to avoid on their way to the elite levels of women's hockey: Mistake #1 - Lifting Too Much Weight: When I first starting training off the ice, I was working out with guys who were already playing major junior and college hockey. I didn't want to be seen as the "weak" girl - so I was always pushing myself to lift more weight than I should have been in a desperate attempt to "keep up with the boys". Trying to train[..]
Hockey - The Ultimate Way to Stop & Control...
Hockey players will usually make a fool out of opposing players by using their fancy and deceptive stick handling and body movements that enable then to out maneuver opposing players with ease. Learn how to overcome this by using a simple and easy-to-use technique that you can learn a few minutes. Usually for defenseman it's really hard at times to stops or neutralize the opposing players barreling down the ice. Now it's their job to stop this opposing player from attaining the net. The big problem comes in when these defenseman players will be focused on the puck and stick handling and this is totally wrong. Every time you focus on the puck, you'll have a 95% chance of being out played[..]
One of the greatest things about sports is getting an autograph from your favorite player. Fans love owning merchandise that has been touched by their heroes. This passion for sports memorabilia has caused the price to soar. Some pieces of memorabilia can cost over $1000 dollars just because of whose signature is on it. Seriously, I saw an autographed Wayne Gretzky jersey on sale for $1500 dollars. There were like 90 of them in stock too, just imagine how much money the company made off that. The hard part about buying autographed hockey merchandise is figuring out if its actually real. Authenticity is the biggest thing that people worry about when they're getting merchandise. There was[..]
The 5 Player Rule in Girls Hockey
The "5 Player Rule" in girls hockey has absolutely nothing to do with the number of players out on the ice. On every team, there are usually 5 players who are really dedicated and driven to get to the next level. It's not that the other players aren't trying their hardest or giving their best. It's just that they're not quite as focused on getting to the elite level. It's neither good nor bad...but it is a reality. Not every girls hockey player wants to play women's college hockey. Not every player wants to play in the Olympics. It's a serious challenge for coaches who want to help these 5 players reach their dreams, but are hesitant about forcing the less motivated players into a level[..]
New hockey players that start will usually accept the coach that is available at the time because they want to play hockey and they don't really care who the coach is. If you have a choice hockey players and parents should be aware of certain key things that will help their kids to achieving maximum levels in the shortest period of time. Before you choose a coach make sure you do the following: 1. Ask other parents and hockey players if they know about the particular coach. 2. Meet with the prospective coach to find out what his training and philosophy is regarding hockey. 3. Watch the coach in an actual hockey practice. 4. Watch the coach in an actual hockey game. Here's what you[..]
Off-Ice Training Many players and parents are under this impression that becoming a faster skater can happen over a 3-day clinic. I hate to be the one to burst this bubble, but IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! As a college hockey player myself, I can vouch for all the fast skaters out there, speed DOES NOT HAPPEN OVER NIGHT! In order to become a faster skater, you need to get yourself set up with a good off-ice program. This will benefit any hockey player in a number of ways: 1. It will help strengthen the muscles that you need to improve your hockey speed. 2. It will make you a stronger, less injury-prone player. 3. It will get you in a good routine that will make it easier to stay focused and[..]
Hockey - How to Master Your Energy
Hockey players have a hard to time to either recover fast from being tired or they tend to lose precious levels of energy and not know why it happens. Once you know about how to control these problems then you'll be able to take full control of your energy to the level that you want in hockey. Try this little experiment: 1 - I would like you to run for 100 yards fast and then assess how much energy you have after you've finished that run. Usually after this experiment athletes and hockey players will tell me they are tired because they've exerted a lot of energy in a short period of time. 2 - After resting, I would like you to run the same 100 yards but this time just breathe into your[..]
Hockey Goals - Finding Youth and Adult Varieties
Hockey goals are easy to come by, but finding the perfect one for your needs can be a bit more difficult. There are tons of goals that you can find out there on store shelves, but the level of hockey as well as the strength of the people playing will determine the type of goals that you should buy. If you're looking for hockey goals for children's hockey games, then most likely plastic varieties will be just fine. You can find these are made entirely out of plastic, including the back, or you can find them at just the frame built the plastic, with plastic netting in the back. Once are made entirely out of plastic are good for very young children, but do not do much good for those that[..]
Hockey News - NHL to Scrimmage Against the KHL
The NHL is Moving Closer to an Agreement with the KHL to Play Two Exhibition Games Next Season Each week I like to pick out some random hockey story that I think is interesting enough to share with the rest of the hockey chump community. I came across this story by Darren Dreger on TSN and, after doing some research, found some additional reports in forums and blogs (the most credible of sources) that confirmed these details. So, going on a hunch, this sounds like something that might actually be in the works. Apparently the NHL and KHL have been talking about setting up some exhibition games between the two leagues since the Olympics. The two NHL teams that will be playing - and are[..]
Get Your Children Involved In Sports
Sports not only keep us healthy and fit but they help us develop confidence, camaraderie and healthy competition. Getting your kids involved in sports at a young age can help them cope with life better when they get older. There are numerous benefits that your child can get when he/she engages in sports. Summer is fast approaching and instead of letting your kids stay home and watch television the whole day, you can keep them active by getting them involved in sports clinics and the like. Who knows your kid may learn to love the sport and be the next champion or professional athlete who will be admired by all. Aside from keeping your kids preoccupied, engaging in sports can help them[..]
Watch Movies Online Completely Free
As the internet is becoming a major part of our daily lives, it is becoming easier to watch newly released movies online. There are all sorts of benefits to watching movies online as opposed to going to the cinema or spending money that you haven't got at the local blockbuster store. Firstly - you can watch newly released movies online in the comfort of your own home and you don't have to pay a penny for a cinema ticket! Secondly - some video stores are now charging up to $10 a night to rent a DVD. Why would you spend that money when you can watch movies online for free? When you watch movies through your home cable or satellite package there are usually extra fees you have to pay for[..]
Video Analysis Of Sports - The Camera Specs
Planning to pick up a new DV camera that can be used to film the kids and your Tennis serve too? Then getting the right camera is important to help you obtain excellent sports analysis footage and make your video analysis of sports performance clearer. We have picked out some of the most important camera specifications for sports analysis and listed them in this article. Speed and Size Like most sports, a good sports analysis camera needs speed and size. There are a few different speed and size measures of a camera and they are discussed below. Frame Speed Most off the shelf DV cameras have a standard frame speed of 30 frames per second or fps(NTSC) in the North America and 25 fps (PAL)[..]
Fit For Purpose
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 state, that every employer and self-employed person has a legal obligation to regularly carry out a risk assessment relating to the health and safety of their employees, and if the risks cannot be eliminated, then a safety sign must be used to warn staff, and visitors alike of the hazard on your premises. Health and safety laws apply to all businesses, how ever small, and are enforced by inspectors from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) or your local authority. Usually it is the Health and Safety Executive that will inspect factories, building sites, etc. and the local authority small venues such as offices, shops,[..]
Cheap New York Rangers TIckets Where to Locate...
Cheap New York Rangers Tickets Locating Cheap New York Rangers Tickets is easy if you know where to look. As an avid New York Rangers fan I have searched high and low to find the cheapest Rangers tickets on thousands of sites. Nine out of ten times you will notice that tickets for Madison Square Garden are extremely hard to come by. Throughout the years I have dealt with many ticket brokers trying to score good seats only to pay through the nose for tickets. Literally I can think of ten big name ticket brokers who charge top dollar for seats you can get elsewhere for less. Craigslist Tickets now offers you the opportunity to really save quite a bit on seats at MSG. Others[..]
College Hockey: A Pure Sport
Of all the sports left out there, the only truly pure one left is college hockey. And although hockey in general is sort of like the red headed stepchild of the sports world, college hockey really should be paid more attention. Not only does it prove that college athletes don’t need to stupid to participate in sports, it goes to show that teamwork and perseverance actually do matter in sports still. With many teams in the college arena having big name recruits that the team is centered around, college hockey enjoys a sort of anonymity when it comes to that. Of course there are still big name recruits, but since hockey is not as popular or given as much analysis and scope as some other[..]
Is Skating Legal In Your Area?
You've probably walked by the signs stating No Skateboarding; there is usually a city ordinance that backs up the posted sign. Since you're walking it might not concern you, unless somebody disobeys the law and then you have a problem. Most sidewalks are constructed with smooth concrete, this is an invitation for those who skate whether it's skateboarding, rollerblading or snake boarding. But the laws still apply, pedestrians are walking on these sidewalks, the law is set to keep people safe, both pedestrian and skater. Some states have allowed skating in certain areas such as skate parks. Bicycle laws have been on the books since the 1970's, when skateboarding became popular it was[..]
An Aura Of Serenity At La Traverse
The Limousin region is a land of green fields, woodlands, and gorges, interspersed with rivers and streams, and is the ideal place for a brilliant holiday destination for those in search of peace and quiet and unspoilt scenery, take time out to ramble, ride, fish, rock climb, do some canoeing, and many other water sports. The countryside is stunning, dotted with charming, authentic little villages and castles, manors, abbeys and churches, and is an ideal place to stay as a base for a few days or longer, visiting Limoge, Souterrain, and other cities and towns in the area. Most regions in France have a reputation for fine cuisine, and the Limousin is no exception. It is a region[..]
No Need To Fly, Wooda Farm Has It All
As everyone will know that the latest disruption to all airports throughout the UK and Europe is the enormous ash cloud from an Icelandic volcano which has caused the biggest flight disruption since the 2001 terrorist attacks. This of course is no fault of the world's airlines, and thank god their only priority is the safety of their passengers, thus cancelled flights, which may be for days, until it is safe to resume normal service. The cloud, floating miles above earth and capable of knocking out jet engines, has totally wiped out travel plans for tens of thousands of people, we must be grateful that airlines are as usual, making the passenger's safety of paramount importance, but[..]
If you will go camping with your friends or family, there are five things that you should not forget. Almost all campers have these camping gear and supplies. You should also include them in your camping checklist. Here are the top 5 essential camping gear and supplies. 1. Food and Water. Sure, there will be food in the camp grounds where you will go camping but just in case, you should bring food and water. Canned foods and easy to cook recipes are recommended. Water is also important because there might not be a clean supply of water at the camp grounds. Better be safe and prepared than sorry. 2. Tent. What kind of camping would it be if you will not sleep inside a tent? This will be[..]
Accessories That Best Suits your Trampolines
Trampolines are great to have around the house. Not only do they provide for children's recreational fun time, they're also used for fitness purposes such as gymnastics or aerobics workouts Many believe that trampolines and trampolining were originated by Eskimos in which a walrus skinned sheet was used to toss people up into the air. However, the trampoline process has evolved greatly to having present day trampolines are made of a strong taut fabric stretched over a metal frame anchored together by strong metal coils. In all the luxury we're surrounded in today, there are also many types of trampoline accessories available to promote more safety, fun and ease of use in the trampoline[..]
Hockey Jargons - What Is New
Hockey jargons are very popular today. This game is so popular that these jargons have become a part and parcel of day to day life in our society. Here, we present some of the very common jargons used by the hockey players as well as by the hockey fans. 'Lunch Pail Gang' are the group of players or an individual in a team who always work so hard and give their best shot to help the team. The thing to be noticed here is, that these guys sometimes, do not get the appreciation they deserve. But team members are always positive and appreciate them anyways. Modern snipers in this game are termed as 'slap shot'. These snipers are real good but now a days, they get more flexible sticks and it[..]
The history of the NHL jersey dates back almost 100 years. With it's long sleeves, large numbers and stunning logos, the hockey jersey has long been a statement of pride for hockey fans of all ages. NHL fans buy NHL gear including jerseys and wear them to games and at home to show their support for their local team. While all 30 NHL teams now have home, away and sometimes alternate jerseys to wear and sell, that was not always the case. The NHL started in 1917 with five teams. Their uniforms were originally made of heavy wools and cottons to keep players warm and they were not very appealing. For the first decade of league play, teams only had one uniform they wore for both home and away[..]
tart --> It all started with Sidney Crosbys father Troy who gave him a little hockey stick at the age of 2! With this stick Sidney played around and "practiced" daily in the basement of their house. Allthough he was just 2 years old he already started loving playing with the little stick and a tennis ball. I personally think this gave him a big advantage to many other three year-olds when he finally started playing for a little hockey club in Halifax, Nova Scotia, as he had already learned the basics of stick-handling. Which lead to him to outplaying five-six years-old kids while himself being just three. Sidney would everyday on the winter season go down to the local hockey-rink and[..]
Hockey Trivia - Misspelled Names on the Stanley...
Fun Fact About the Stanley Cup I think the NHL might need to hire a new proofreader. One of the reasons that the Stanley Cup is the most popular professional sports trophies amongst the four majors is mainly because of the sense of immortality that comes along with having your name forever engraved into the side of the trophy. But what do you do when your first name is misspelled? Or, for that matter, your last name? What about when the engravers misspell the NAME OF THE STANLEY CUP WINNING TEAM? Well, more often than not, the NHL doesn't do anything. Did you know that there are a handful of misspellings on the Stanley Cup today? Chief among them include: * Bob Gainey was spelled "Gainy"[..]
So, on "random Stanley Cup hockey trivia and fact Saturday", it's kind of hard not to report on the significance of the Boston Bruins' unbelievable collapse against the Philadelphia Flyers, and look in to just how rare their losing the series after being up 3-0 really truly was... The Boston Bruins have joined what is now a hat trick of teams that have "accomplished" this failure. The other two NHL teams in history to have lost their playoff series after gaining a 3-0 lead include the Detroit Red Wings - the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Red Wings back in 1942 - and the Pittsburgh Penguins - who fell in classic fashion to the upstart New York Islanders all the way back in 1975. "History[..]
Since the beginning of the time, man has always wanted to fly. In today's modern world there are planes, parachutes and all kinds of gadgets that can make that dream a reality, yet to fly without any sort of equipment or technical help, now that is interesting. To feel like a bird for a few moments - to fly and dive into water, is something high divers can do. In this sport the goal of the high diver is to present gymnastic elements while performing a jump into water from a high place. This unusual discipline is included into Olympic sports and it is truly magnificent to observe such flights, turns, and dives. To get a bit closer to understanding what these people are doing, here are[..]
Leadership Vs Management
I'd like to say that I'm all about leadership, not management. I think the word manage create more negative thoughts and feelings than the word leadership, or coaching for example. Management is all about controlling people and telling them what to do. I don't think this gives a great spin on getting results. Not easily anyway. I love to lead. Creating a positive vision and following it to where it goes is what drives me. I get passionate about what I'm doing and it gets others involved. We share a common direction. This is what a leader is all about. Someone who can express a genuine vision for the future and inspire others to drive towards it too. I don't think there's any one group[..]
Watch Nhl Hockey Florida Panthers Vs Boston...
The 2010 NHL hockey season has been one to be remembered. It seems that ever since the Vancouver athletics and the incredible hockey we saw there, all the players in the NHL have stepped up their game. We have had some surprises this assemblage and some expectations met. NHL superstars like Sydney Crosby, Pavel Datsyuk, Roberto Luongo and countless others have had fantastic seasons.
